Provisonal Glossary

I've got quite the vocabulary, and drop a lot of terms in my writing. Some come from science fiction social engineering, and others from matters of game play. If there are terms you don't understand, ask on the forums and I'll add them here.

Arcology
Portmanteau (Combined word) of Architecture and Ecology - and in original form is meant to mean a planned community with minimal impact on its surrounding environment. Most modern developments lack the seamless integration with the land, but do focus on minimizing need for transport combined with green technologies to produce eco-friendly towns with populations in the tens to hundreds of thousands.

Megastructure:
An extra-large building, often designed as as a complete complex in a small foot-print. The NEST towers that combine an entire city with a population similar to Seattle into one 180 story spire are the archetypal example.

Nanotechnology:
Derived from the SI Prefix for "One Billionth" (Nano) - this is a science of creating machines only atoms wide that can then produce micro tools to in turn work on more complex structures. Common uses include creating advanced materials, preforming surgery, hunting viruses, and creating high-output power cells.

Gauss Rifle
A weapon that uses electromagnetic rings to accelerate metal projectiles.

Railgun
A type of linear motor that uses opposed magnetic force to accelerate projectiles to very high speeds. Although more powerful than a Gauss weapon, it requires far more power, maintenance, and overheats quickly.

Power Armor
A suit of metal and ceramic armor equipped with hydraulic or electro-mechanical linkages to augment the user's abilities.

Ekaide (Alien Term - Humans usually pronounce Eye-Ki-ay-dee)
"Encounter Suit" or

Eyjiyda/Aljadah (Alien Term -  Human pronunciation Eye-Ji-ay-dah)
"Encountered Tower"
The Orchid like laser towers that often mark areas as territory of the citizens.
